We are working with a Shared Legal Service in the Northern Home Counties region looking for a permanent 2+ PQE Litigation Lawyer/Senior Lawyer to join their department.

The role offers a salary of (£43,000- £56,750 DOE) and an excellent benefits package. This is a full – time position with the council operating on a flexible hybrid working environment.
About the position:
Litigation Lawyers are expected to undertake the following duties:
- Provide legal advice on a wide range of public law and litigation matters, including civil actions and judicial review matters
- Attending courts and tribunals undertaking advocacy where required
- Supervising junior members of the litigation team when required
- Acting as a source of legal advice and support to any of the client Committees and Directorates as directed to cover the absence of colleagues
About you:
The successful Litigation Lawyer will be a 2+ PQE admitted Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX of England and Wales with a current practising certificate. Good knowledge of Litigation law and practices are essential.
You must have a demonstrated ability to work under your own initiative, anticipate challenges and deal with them proactively. You must be able to work unsupervised with a flexible approach to teamwork, driven by delivering a high-quality service, and have a positive attitude towards building relationships with the team. You must the ability to evaluate information in complex situations and confidently make decisions independently.
You must also be flexible to travel to evening meetings and to work in the other office locations when necessary.
It is important that anyone joining the council is committed to these areas of law and can demonstrate the importance of health and safety as well as having the awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behaviour, physical, social and welfare needs.
The ability to work under pressure is imperative, be self-motivated, and able to work to deadlines.
Previous local authority experience is essential.
