We are currently recruiting for an experienced Contracts & Procurement Lawyer to join a local authority on a locum basis. The local authority is based in the Berkshire area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled legal professional with a strong background in commercial contracts and public procurement to support a busy legal team.
You will be responsible for providing legal advice and support across a broad range of contractual and procurement matters, including:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
- Advising on public procurement and tendering processes
- Supporting departments on procurement strategy and compliance
- Providing pragmatic legal advice on contractual risk and governance matters
- Assisting with procurement challenges and complex commercial projects where required

- Locum assignment
- Hybrid working arrangement
- Predominantly remote/home-based working
- Occasional office attendance required for in-person client meetings and business needs
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of CILEx
- Significant experience in contracts and procurement law
- Strong knowledge of public sector procurement and commercial contracts
- Ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision
- Excellent stakeholder management and advisory skills
- Previous local government experience is highly desirable
- Experience advising on complex procurement projects within the public sector would be advantageous
This role would suit a confident and proactive lawyer who can provide high-quality legal support while working largely remotely.
