LAW Absolute are seeking an experienced Childcare Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join a busy and supportive Local Authority legal team on a 6-month locum basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong background in public childcare law who can hit the ground running and support the team with a varied caseload.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous childcare legal experience within a Local Authority.
- Experience supporting lawyers on care proceedings and related child protection matters.
- Available to work 5 days per week (36 hours per week).
- Able to attend the office at least one day per week (day can be chosen to suit the successful candidate).
- Available to start ASAP in August 2026.
The Role:
- Assisting solicitors with childcare and safeguarding matters.
- Preparing legal documentation and court bundles.
- Liaising with social workers, counsel, courts and external agencies.
- Managing case files and supporting care proceedings from start to finish.
- General paralegal and legal administrative support within the childcare team.

- Competitive rate of £20 – £35 per hour, dependent on experience.
