LAW Absolute is currently recruiting on an exclusive basis to a permanent Commercial Contracts and EU Procurement Lawyer position with an innovative and well regarded local authority shared service, with offices in London and the Home Counties.
Our client is a Lexcel and Investors in People Gold accredited practice, who embrace change and innovation and are regarded as being extremely forward thinking with their approach.
About the position
Contracts Lawyers within the practice are expected to undertake the following duties:
• Provide advice and have conduct of legal files relating to contracts, procurement and information law matters.
• Draft and negotiate commercial contracts to include construction contracts and service contracts
• Support corporate projects and advise on contract related governance issues
• Advise senior officers within the practice’s local authority clients
• Advise on procurements for compliance with the Public Contract Regulations 2015 and other EU Legislation
The successful candidate will be required to pick up a caseload from the outset; therefore it is important you have previous experience carrying a contracts caseload with minimal supervision. Candidates from both the public and private sector with relevant experience are encouraged to apply for this position, as the practice’s current staff is drawn from both sectors.
There is flexibility for the role to be based in the practice’s London or Home Counties’ office, both of which offer excellent transport links. As our client is a shared service there is an expectation of travel to other clients’ offices and those of other law firms when required.
The successful candidate will not only have previous commercial contracts experience but will also be ambitious, driven by delivering a high quality service and be able to work under pressure. Experience advising on public procurement matters is advantageous, although consideration will be given to less experienced candidates with the right personal qualities to succeed in the practice.
