Triple partner hire for DWF
7th February 2014
Business law firm DWF has boosted its real estate practice with a three-member partner hire for its London office. The hire includes that of former Lawrence Graham real estate finance partner Iain Thomas, Wragge & Co former partner Lorraine Reader and Stephenson Harwood lawyer Stephen Sumpton.
DWF would appear to have been raiding the London legal recruitment agencies of late, as the partner hires come after a series of recruitment moves by the national real estate practice. Last year saw the firm hire Toby Askin as head of the group in London and Birmingham, taking on the role in August after he also left Wragge & Co.
The newly-hired lawyers have stated that their move was not linked to the planned merger between DWF and Wragge & Co that looks set to go ahead in May later this year, according to this article, and instead is part of the firm’s general expansion plans. Looking to double the size of the firm’s base in London over a period of three years, the practice has continually made lateral hires in an attempt to realise this step.
