The best restaurants for business lunches in London
22nd August 2017
If you are on the lookout for a top London restaurant to talk a little business, or to secure that much desired legal job, you might be a little overwhelmed by the sheer size and scope of the London food scene. There are countless options available, but to help you make the right choice, and impress those that need impressing, we have put together a list of the best restaurants for business lunches in London (and a top suggestion for further afield).
Some of London’s very best restaurants for business lunches come via Gascon Connection, a collection of superb restaurants from Pascal Aussignac and Vincent Labeyrie. We spoke to these fine establishments and asked them about what makes their restaurants so perfect for a business lunch.
“Club Gascon’s formal yet relaxed atmosphere makes it perfect for business meetings. With Londoners’ busy lifestyle, especially in the City, we are aiming to serve our Dejeuner lunch menu within 45 minutes. We are one of a few restaurants offering tea pairing for those who want to enjoy a non-alcoholic drink with a matching dish. Our lunch menu is also reasonably priced - 2 courses £32.50, 3 courses £39.50.”
And for a particular dish, Club Gascon recommend: “Club’s seasonal menu alongside our trusted classics. Don’t miss our slow cooked egg, lomo and Club’s cheese selection.”
Lunch hours: 12pm – 2pm
*Please note, Club Gascon is going to be closed for a refurbishment 10th August-14th October 2017
“At Cigalon we offer a seasonal monthly changing menu suitable for vegetarians, pescatarians and meat-lovers. We are targeting serving lunch within an hour as people around Chancery Lane do not have a lot of time for lunch. With a 2 course set lunch priced at £21.50 and 3 courses at £26.50, we are very competitive. Our set lunch is great value for money.
“If you’d prefer to choose a la carte dishes, nothing says Provence more than our signature Nicoise Salad. We’d also recommend trying the daily fish or meat specials that are prepared on an open large grill at the centre of our kitchen.”
You can take a look at August’s menu here for a little taster of what is in store at Cigalon.
Lunch hours: 12pm – 2.15pm
“Located next to Smithfield market, Comptoir Gascon is walking distance to the City, Farringdon and Barbican. Our daily changing salads and plat-du-jour are priced at just £6.50 and £9.50 respectively. We also offer a great choice a la carte menu (meat, fish and our speciality – duck).
“During summertime we are offering seasonal salads and fish options - seabass and more exotic cuttlefish. Our charcoal grill selection is the best seller and is very fulfilling. For a quick lunch we recommend the daily changing plat-du-jour.”
Before you head on down to Comptor Gascon, you can take a look at their a la carte menu here.
Lunch hours: 11.45am – 2.30pm
L’Anima Café would also be a fantastic choice for your next business lunch. Snita Pandoria, of the food and travel blog Her Favourite Food, offered us her own recommendations for business lunches in London, and L’Anima Café was among them.
“Located just behind the bustle of Liverpool Street, L’Anima Cafe is the perfect restaurant for an impressive yet unpretentious meal. The attentive, friendly service means diners can eat here for a quick lunch meeting or linger over a three course meal as the restaurant caters for both.
“The variety of Italian food on the menu appeals to all and the decent sized portions won’t leave anyone hungry for more.”
And as L’Anima Cafe is located close to the City, it’s ideally situated for meeting clients, colleagues, and business partners to talk a little shop, and of course enjoying some wonderful food.
Opening hours: 11.30am – 11pm
With its wonderfully white interiors, Avenue in St James’s is a restaurant that provides an aura of affluence that is perfectly suited for a delicious and fruitful business lunch. Opened in 1997, Avenue sports an American theme for the present day and boasts a fun menu that includes favourites such as the New England clam chowder. In its early years, Avenue was a popular spot for the area’s hedge fund managers and today it still exists as a top option for lunch-time business discussions.
Opening hours: 10am – 10.30pm
Sexy Fish in Mayfair is renowned as being one of the city’s most stylish locations. This Asian restaurant and bar serves Japanese-inspired fish and meat dishes served up in surroundings designed by Martin Brudnizki. And for those important business lunches, Sexy Fish’s Kuikku Menu is ideal for your purposes. Priced at £36 and served between 12 noon and 5.30pm, the menu is perfect for “busy Londoners with little time to spare.”
The full Kuikku menu and the even quicker Kuikku Express menu can be viewed here. Some options include:
- An entrée of Miso Soup or Kimchi & Pear
- A choice of 2 starters such as Beef Tataki & Topinambour or Yellowtail Tartar & Jalapeňos
- Main courses such as Salmon with Yuzu Hollandaise or Vegetable Tempura with Fresh Truffle
With its unique menus and rather extravagant interior, Sexy Fish certainly stands out from the crowd – a factor which could be a game changer for you and your business.
Opening hours: 12pm – 2am
If you are in pursuit of a timeless dining experience to conduct your lunchtime business, then look no further than Corrigan’s Mayfair. The restaurant is as glamourous as the location it finds itself in and, with a number of private dining rooms, Corrigan’s is an ideal place to conduct a little business. Home to the acclaimed celebrity chef, Richard Corrigan, the menu boasts quintessential British and Irish cuisine that will impress those in attendance. And if you are really looking to push the boat out for clients, Corrigan’s Kitchen Library experience could be a dealmaker.
Lunch hours: 12pm – 3pm
Another option for those looking to grab lunch in the middle of the City, Coq d’Argent offers a menu of what it calls ‘Contemporary French cuisine with an emphasis on seasonal produce’. With its outdoor terrace and large garden, this beautiful restaurant provides patrons with some spectacular London views, including that of St Paul’s Cathedral – which should provide plenty of inspiration for those in need of it. Like other establishments located in the City, Coq d’Argent truly lends itself to business lunches, and should be the perfect spot to facilitate your needs.
Opening hours: 7.30am – 10am and 11.30am – 12am
The Cinnamon Club
Snita, from Her Favourite Food, was again on hand with another fantastic recommendation for business lunches in London, this time suggesting The Cinnamon Club, located in the heart of Westminster.
“This Michelin Star restaurant is ideal for a business meeting, especially as it’s used quite frequently for the same reason by politicians wanting a break from the Houses of Parliament.
Everything at The Cinnamon Club, from the grand décor and luxurious bar to the accessible set lunch menu, is sure to impress clients every time. The laid back and calm atmosphere also makes it a great place to talk business without being disturbed or rushed.”
Lunch hours: 12pm – 2.45pm
Located on prime real estate in Bishopsgate in the City, Sushisamba has a majestic backdrop and is one of the more popular destinations for a business lunch. With a focus on the fusion cuisine of Japan and Peru, Sushisamba is able to boast the highest outdoor dining terraces in Europe with unrivalled 360 degree, panoramic views of the City. This dramatic dining experience with its tree sculpture and earth-to-sky motif is quite the site indeed, and will provide a wonderful setting for your lunch time discussions.
Opening hours: 11.30am – 1.30am (Sunday – Tuesday) and 11.30am – 2.00am (Wednesday – Saturday)
