Sustainability emphasis leading to more in-house roles
13th May 2014
The number of in-house lawyer jobs becoming available has risen thanks to a greater emphasis on sustainable business practice, recent research has unveiled.
News which is sure to be followed closely by those on the hunt for a new solicitor job, the development was included in a report from legal firm Bond Dickinson titled ‘Beyond: Responsibility: The emerging of legal in sustainable business’.
The report suggests that the number of scandals and high-profile corporate collapses, alongside changes in legislation and regulation, have paved towards a reshaping of sustainability practices. Included in the report was a survey of 60 general counsel, of which 71 per cent said that this change of focus has had an impact on operations.
This in turn has led to an increase in the number of boards looking for advisors to contribute with strategy, with sustainability becoming a more legitimate path for senior lawyers looking to expand their expertise within the in-house sector.
