Partner hires at highest level since credit crunch

A top legal website has published the results of research which suggests the number of solicitors being hired as partners is now at its highest level since before the financial crisis hit the sector in 2008.
According to the survey, 130 new partners were appointed in the first quarter, which – as well as being the most for around four years – represents 12 per cent more than by this point in 2011.
Legal recruitment agencies in London will be pleased with the figures, with UK firms reportedly continuing to be the leading force in hires. 40 per cent were made by practices headquartered in the city, compared to 23 per cent by their US counterparts.
The financial industry saw the most appointments with around 20 per cent of the moves, whilst litigation accounted for 17 per cent and real estate 15 per cent. New corporate partnerships, however, made up less of the total than expected at just 11 per cent.
