LinkedIn GC to step down from legal role
8th April 2014
Having held one of the most prominent legal jobs in social media for six years, LinkedIn’s Erika Rottenberg is to step down from her post of general counsel after six years in the position. Having joined LinkedIn in 2008 as the business-orientated social networking service’s full-time attorney and GC, Rottenberg is to step down from the role in August later this year.
Rottenberg has overseen several prominent legal matters at the company in her time, including that of their initial public offering in 2011, as well as being accredited with the company’s move to establish a presence in China. LinkedIn has grown at a huge rate in recent years, which has seen the company acquire staff to fill 30 in-house legal counsel jobs, having doubled in size since 2012.
Having come from a background as a GC for a number of prominent companies in the US, including SumTotal Systems and Creative Labs, Rottenberg has been vocally appreciative of her time spent at LinkedIn and said in this article that she looks forward to helping the company find a replacement.
