In-house department launched by Poundworld to reduce costs
10th October 2012
The budget retail outlet chain Poundworld have launched their own dedicated in-house legal department with the aim of reducing the amount of money they currently have to spend on hiring advice from external private practices.
The news that Poundworld will shortly be employing solicitors with legal jobs to exclusively deal with any difficulties facing the company comes at the expense of Costcutter, whose in-house solicitor David Dresser has been named as head of legal in the new set-up.
Dresser, who enjoyed around four years successful representation of his former employers, explained in a statement that the creation of this department, as well as being the result of a desire to improve efficiencies, has also been necessitated by the fact that Poundworld have recently been the subject of significant expansion, taking out leases on a host of new stores.
Poundworld’s new legal chief, however, will not be amongst those who will be working just for this group, as he recently confirmed that he will continue to provide counsel to other corporations on behalf of several private practices on property and regulatory matters.
