IBA conference keynote speech focuses on economy

The renowned economist Joseph Stiglitz has delivered a stirring keynote speech to the annual conference of the International Bar Association (IBA), which this year is taking place in Dublin, Ireland.
The Nobel laureate, unsurprisingly, focused unerringly on the economy in his address, which warned that the damaging effects of the recent global financial crisis are far from a thing of the past, and that the responsible advice given by those in London lawyer jobs to business institutions and the public over the coming months and years will be of vital importance in ensuring the worldwide situation does not deteriorate further.
Calling for greater fiscal solidarity throughout Europe and the re-election of Barack Obama as President of the USA, Stiglitz said that improved unity between countries and communities in terms of both fiscal and societal matters was the only way that the western world was going to recover from the recent problems that it has endured.
