Freshfields now the highest-paying magic circle firm
3rd June 2014
Multinational law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has become the highest-paying magic circle firm after increasing each of its associate salaries. Clifford Chance is the only firm yet to announce their salaries for this year, meaning that Freshfields now stands as the highest-paying top firm at associate level.
Now offering among the highest paid London legal jobs, Freshfields have said of the pay hikes that it is an ‘investment in our people’, as detailed in this article. Not only are the top jobs at Freshfields set to benefit from the pay hike, but experienced junior lawyers are anticipated to take home close to £135,000. Trainee pay has also risen, having previously been held at the 2012 level.
This is a good sign for lawyer jobs across the board, particularly in the capital as it appears the level of work and investment is back on track as the British economy recovers. Freshfields’ new pay strategy follows their introduction of ‘career milestone’ pay bands in 2012, in a move to break from traditional models.
