Firms advising on the Gherkin sale
11th November 2014
The firms advising on the £700m sale of London’s landmark Gherkin building have been announced as Baker & McKenzie, CMS Cameron McKenna and Taylor Wessing. The news comes as Brazilian billionaire Joseph Safra and his company the Safra Group announce their acquisition of the building.
The Gherkin went up for sale in July earlier this year with the price tag of £640m, which has since risen to the £700m sale as a result of a bidding war between investors. The advisement over the sale is a high-profile job that will be closely watched by all in the sector, from NQs to those in locum lawyer jobs in London, as the news makes headlines such as this from the BBC.
CMS Cameron McKenna partner James Miller and senior associate Sarah Allonby are reported to have been handling the real estate work, while Ian Jack at Baker & McKenzie is said to have led the team advising receivers Deloitte on the corporate elements of the deal.
