Capita to enter legal market

Capita, the London-based outsourcing company, is reportedly just days away from entering the legal market.
The SRA granted Optima Legal Services an ABS licence, which comes days ahead of its takeover by Capita. This news was confirmed when a Capita spokesperson announced this week that the acquisition of Optima would be completed within the next 10 days.
The deal sees Capita also purchase Cost Advocates, a subsidiary of Optima, and means that 300 staff will move to Capita Legal Services, whilst also potentially creating more lawyer jobs in the UK.
The article on The Lawyer also reveals that Capita is not the only outsourcer that is looking at the public sector legal market; CapacityGrid partnered with the North West Leicestershire District Council’s legal team in March this year.
David Ashcroft, the Capita Legal Services transformation director, added, “This journey will involve significant investment in people, process and technology, a journey that started by establishing our presence in Leeds - an obvious choice given the city’s reputation as the leading legal centre outside of the capital.”
