Blackstone ups legal recruitment with third silk
4th March 2014
City barristers’ chambers Blackstone Chambers has boosted its team with its third silk hire in the space of year in the form of Brick Court Chambers’ Alan Maclean QC. Maclean was invited to be a Queen’s Counsel in 2009 and brings with him to Blackstone Chambers both commercial and public law experience.
This latest high profile legal recruitment in London will see Blackstone Chambers receive a significant boost to its commercial litigation offering.
The move comes as something of a surprise, as Maclean opts for a broad-based practice with Blackstone Chambers; as the chambers’ senior clerk Gary Oliver said in this article, “When you look at the magic circle sets…there’s not much between them and it’s very much a buyers’ market”.
The hire of Maclean sees Blackstone move closer to its plan to bring together areas of its commercial, competition, public law and employment groups as it looks to utilise Maclean’s expansive experience.
