We asked Rachel Davis, Managing Director at The Lawyer Portal why she thinks attending events like these are crucial for success within the industry:

Networking is an essential part of securing any legal job or work experience opportunity. Make a note of the people you speak with, the organisations they work for and the positions they hold - grab a business card if you can! By doing this, you can refer back to conversations you had in any future applications and reference why it spurred you on to apply. Networking also provides the perfect opportunity for a brief, personal follow up email and thank you after the event. You never know where it might take you - the aim is to become more than just a piece of paper!”
