Salaries and Rates of Pay

A ‘temporary’ worker will earn an hourly rate that is agreed prior to placement and, in addition, will accrue Working Holiday Pay.*

The hourly rate will frequently be calculated with reference to what would be the annual salary for the equivalent permanent role.

(EG £50,000 / 52 (weeks in a year) / 37 (hours in a week) = £ 25.99)

In addition to the hourly rate a temporary worker accrues Working Holiday Pay.

Typically, a temporary worker is paid weekly, one week in arrears.

*Working Holiday Pay: During every temporary assignment a temporary worker who works undertakes she will accrue Holiday Pay. The entitlement to paid holiday is intended as a health and safety measure and temporary workers are encouraged to take the full statutory entitlement of 5.6 weeks (28 days including bank holidays)paid leave in a leave year.

The calculation of holiday pay is 12.07% (5.6 weeks holiday accrued over 46.4 weeks worked in a year) of every hour worked.

Working Holiday is NOT available to 'temporary' workers who work through a Limited Company.

A fixed-term contractor will usually engage in a contract with the hiring organisation (rather than LAW Absolute) and will be paid a salary which is pro rata according to the duration of the contract.
